can anyone tell me where to draw vacum for my 400 turbo/6.2 setup? I have one in my crew cab 1 ton and am putting a 400 in my 82 6.2 1/2 ton. I've had enough of the 700/r4's Thanks for any help.

should be a valve on the right hand side of the pump with 2 hose fittings 1 in, 1 out.

ou have a vacuum punp where the distributor would be on a gas engine (rear of intake manifold, passenger-side, near firewall). Just find a convenient place to tap into the vacuum system. I got rid of my TH400 to put the beefed-up TH700R4 in. What problems are you having with the tranny?

There is a vacuum regulator valve on the passenger side of the injector pump. Trucks with T-400 have 2 vacuum hoses connected, trucks with 700R4 have wires. You'll have to get the right one and tap into the vacuum pump which is located in the rear center of the engine. Good luck. John

I'd say the problem is just getting a very basic rebuild on the 700/r4's instead of a quality job.I've had two done and supposedly by the "best" in the business and the same thing. slipping between shifts and other things. I definitely wouldn't pull anything behind the vehicles for fear of burning them up, and that shouldn't be the case. Neither tranny had more than 6 to 8k on them when problems showed up, and that was from just highway driving and babying them.
I pulled out a perfectly good th400 'cause I needed overdrive, and have the factory formed vacuum line available if you're interested. (as well as everything else, converter, flywheel, etc.)
If you're going 700r4 to th400, prepare to have rpms go WAY up unless you add a gear vendors. You'll have 30%increase due to no overdrive and probably 5-15% higher due to no lockup.

Hey Jbell, let me know how much for the vacum lines, E-Mail me at the same address at AOL.If I need to I'll add a gear vendor but in the mountains of WV I may not need them. Thats another problem with the R4 It'll flat run off with u on a hill if youre not paying attention. I don't know about the other parts yet, this is a swap deal and may get some or not in the deal.
