View Full Version : Need clever saying for tailgate...

The setup:
Sunday night I had a brain fart and I realized I was in the right hand lane at a stoplight, and I needed to get into a left hand turn lane to get into the local 7-11, without a whole lot of room to do it in.
So I brake-torque it a bit, load up the converter, and bring some boost up to holeshot the f-150 next to me. This guy figured out what I was up to and wasn't about to let me in front of him.
The guy in the f-150 catches me napping on the green, so I really had to let her breath to get in front of him. I pull into the 7-11 and the f-150 pulls up next to me. I am expecting a confrontation, but he just asks me if I have a 350 or a 454 in my truck.
I tell him it is a 6.5 diesel and he is stunned. He didnt belive it till I started it up and let it idle for him. (he obviously didnt see the cloud of black smoke when I launched :D ). We spent about 20 minutes talking about my truck.
Needless to say, he is most impressed with GM diesels now
Now the problem:
Unless they know about the bumper holes or hear it running, most people have know idea my truck is a diesel.
I want to have a decal made up for the tailgate with a clever, witty saying to inform the world that it is indeed a 6.5 diesel.
Any Ideas?
Thanks,
Tim

"If It Ain't Smokin' Then Somethin's Broken"
"When In Doubt Smoke'em Out"
"Got Diesel?"

What's wrong with keepin' it a sleeper?
Nut'n like watchin' the "passed and the curious" standin' there just uh scratchin' thur head....
....works for me
Just thought of this....
"IF YOU CAN READ THIS, I MUST BE OUT OF FUEL"

I love sleepers. I always thought a 12 second Winnebego Brave would be a bitchin ride
But...
I LOVE rubbing it in the gasser-crowd noses that a truck can be quick without sparkplugs.
I was thinking about
"YOU JUST GOT SMOKED BY A 6.5 DIESEL"
But maybe someone else has a better one.
Tim
I asked this same question when I first came to the DP. Haven't seen any the above mentioned actually for sale yet, but am still looking.
Ebay has "Got Diesel?" (a play on the milk advertising campaign), and also "Diesel Inside" (playing on the computer chip advertisement).
What about just a very well designed DP bumper sticker? The little white one just doesn't cut it. Too generic.

The is another on ebay that I saw that was like a no smoking sign but instead of the smoke it was a sparkplug.

Cowracer,
Nearly being neighbors, a couple of things come to mind:
1. "It's a Jefferson County thing, you wouldn't understand."
2. "Got Diesel?"
3. "Smells like Diesel..."
I always thought one of the stickers that the factory put on the hood of the '94 trucks would look good on the bottom of the tailgate.
On edit: Just noticed that the "Got Diesel" was already out there.

I can have the guy who letters racecars make up a decal with anything I want to say, so I am not limited by availability, grammer, taste or pesky obcenity guidelines.
Green- "Jeffco thing" I love it. Maybe a little obtuse for DeSoto people, but then again, I dont get to DeSoto very much.
How about:
"Its a diesel thing. Hell! I don't even understand"

How about just putting "Diesel Fuel Only" real big?
I always liked "Real Trucks don't have Spark Plugs"

About 3 1/2 to 4 years ago, I recall reading about the 6.5 TurboDiesel stick-on from AMG & got one at a local Hummer dealer... I don't recall the part number, but it looks nice on the tailgate of my '94 6.5TD Blazer. Not a big bumper sticker, but nice. Raised gold plastic thing.
Anyone know that part number for anyone who might want one? That info might have been from the old email list, I don't recall.

DETROIT
TURBO DIESEL
The Detroit part is kind of a stretch :D But what the hell! I probably get as many double takes from OTRs as from young kids when I go by.
I've actualy had a kid come up to me in the Walmart parking lot and want look under the hood!
That's when I decided I had to do cleaning!
Otherwise I've always liked "IF IT DON'T RATTLE IT AINT RIGHT"

I called my local dealer and got a hood decal like on my 94 it is nice looking and has not been blasted off by numerous carwashes. It is mounted above the suburban fuel injection emblem.A friend who drives a 6.2 has a theory....whenever you pull up to a light alongside a similar truck thats a gasser, the guy driving it wishes his was a diesel.I suppose I might agree.

My personal favorite is "Real Trucks Rattle When They Run" or else the classic "If it don't rattle it ain't right"
I always liked the old one on 18-wheelers, back when most hiways were single lane (yeah, I'm an old one, too! ;) )-
"I MAY BE SLOW, BUT I'M AHEAD OF YOU!"
I would like this one on a wide, flat, yellow "T" -
"If It Ain't Smokin', Something's Broken" in black-smoke black across the bar
"Got Diesel!" in Diesel pump green on the flat column.

The guy who bought my 6.2 Jimmy said he had one at home that read "Diesel fumes make me horny". There's an option.

How bout some I saw on some pulling tractors
"Red Hot and Smokes Alot!"
"Cool Blue and Smokes Too!"
Kinda related to tractor manufactures but could relate to truck color.
