I've seen a few people talking about a "90 degree oil filter adapter".
Does this keep the filter in the stock location but angle it in such a way that changing the filter is not such a messy ordeal?
Or, is this something completely different?
If it is what I was wondering, where can I get one and has anyone had problems with it?

Your truck has it already, the adapter turns the oil filter sideways to clear the front driveshaft.

Actually, it makes it a more messy ordeal..
Yup, you should already have one, unless your K is really a C...

My '97 motor came out of a "C" but required this adapter to fit in my "K". This was discovered AFTER the motor had been dropped in, as things were being buttoned up.
There should be a GM Service Bulletin on this subject entitled "Fitting Under Cseries - Kseries". I prefer the acronym.

Denis,
I did 1 oil change and decided there has got to be a better way, the solution for K series truck IMO is a remote bypass set up, you get better oil filtration plus the filters get located where you can get to them,
Several vendors out there, I run a AMZOIL rig I got mine from JK http://www.kennedydiesel.com/ , I think Greg at http://www.lubespecialist.com/ also has them.

I just crawled under the truck and looked...Darnit! You guys are right - I do already have the 90* adapter.
Tim - I've thought about the remote bypass, also. My only concern is trusting the rubber hoses and connections - how long have you had your bypass installed? Any trouble with anything?
