View Full Version : 6.5 Turbo Throttle Problems
I have a 1997 Silverado with a 6.5 Turbo and Electronic Injection Pump.
The problem is that I get full Throttle at 1/4 Pedal Travel, making it almost undrivable on dirt roads due to all the power coming in too quickly.
Has anyone had a similar problem, and how can I fix it.
Good Day Dewars, I'm not much good on the 94 up 6.5, but we had a similar problem on one of ours here at work.It was the throttle position sensor which I think tells the engine computer how fast to go.If I remember right, these engines have no throttle cable on them like mine does. They are fly by wire.Try that or look on the search button above and do a search on TPS.Good luck, hope I helped.......Lineman
Yes, the APP module (TPS) does control these engines, BUT from what I've seen, they will set codes if not working properly. I guess I'd get a scan tool and watch the APP readings as you move the pedal.
My thoughts are that the pump itself is not working properly, and the encoder/delivery system is not moving freely...
