Sounds like I might be in need of wastegate from a previous topic I posted. How much does this part cost and can moderately competant mechanic fix one,or is this something I need to send to the shop to get done. The truck has nearly 120,000 miles and the engine is bone stock so if its cheap enough ,and I can do it I might as well.I was thinking of trading the truck in for something a little stronger, but looking at the blue book value, its worth less than I actually owe on it!Looks like were stuck together for a while, maybe. As always, thanks
If you are just replacing the vacuum controller for the wastegate, it's easy. Hardest part is not losing the little c-clip. I've never priced one, but I've heard people here talk and I must be confused because it was very expensive for such a simple part. The Turbo-Master from heath costs $69 and is easy to install. It may be cheaper than replacing the vacuum unit.
