6.5 Rebuild

I have a 1999 K1500 Sub LT 6.5 turbo with 150K. It started using anti-freeze and long story short, the engine is out. It has a crack in #1 cylinder like I have never seen. Extending from the top of cylinder to the crankshaft. I have a few questions.
1. Are the 2000-01 blocks better than 1998-9?
2. Do 18 to 1 pistons benefit an EFI engine?
3. If they do, what injector pump and turbo?
