Today I hooked up a manual glow switch to get more glow time. I cut the yellow wire at the glow controller (disconecting from the ECM) and ran 12v through a push button switch in the dash. For now I am going to glow it manually until I place a diode in the yellow wire from the ECM. How long can I glow the Kennedy quick heats without hurting anything? I first tried for 10 sec than 2- 2sec afterglows and seemed to help. Anyone else doing this?

In theory, you could glow them indefinitely, due to the fact that these plugs are a PTC (Positive Temerature Coefficient) design. They get to about 1400 degrees tip temp, then self-regulate at that temp.
In practice, you could glow them for 15, 20, or even 60 seconds if you like. But 15 seconds should be all these engines need, even with 18:1 pistons in really cold weather, and would be a ballpark glow time max I'd recommend.

I will try that for now. i just dont want to wreck anything.
