View Full Version : which hot,switched wire for cb hookup

PUTTING A CB RADIO IN MY CHEVY. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT COLOR WOULD BE A GOOD CHOICE,UNDER THE DASH TO WIRE THE HOT LEAD THRU THE IGNITION SWITCH WITHOUT GOING TO THE FUSE BLOCK AND WHICH FOR THE GROUND???

I ran mine straight to the battery to limit stray RF making it's way to the PCM, & radio probably not necessary but my CB peaker/tweaker Guru recommended direct to the batt for that reason, use the batt for a RF filter.

Roger, on the battery connections, Power and
ground, If you need CB Ign switched,
Install a relay and use a switched ign point
for relay control. You can get a " piggy back "
add a fuse and replace the radio fuse...

Check the electrical area at the auto store.

With a PCM in a vehicle, best to have seperate power feed ,

THANKS FOR THE INFO GUYS. IM NOT TO SHARP ON THIS RELAY TO PUT BETWEEN THE FUSE BLOCK AND CB. WHAT DO I ASK FOR AND WHERE CAN I BUY ONE???

About any parts house will know the relay you need

look for 1 in a little " can " about 2 inches
, kinda square with rounded corners, mounts with a tab with a hole for a screw.
has 3 slip on connectors on bottom, good for
enough amps for cb..

THANKS AGAIN TO ALL. I WENT TO THE BATTERY AND WILL JUST NEED TO REMEMBER TO TURN IT OFF!!!!HA HA .
