Govt issue

I was on the H1 website and noticed that the6.5td had 440 ft/lbs of TQ. Mine is only rated at 385. It would help towing my boat, if I could get the extra power. boat weight 7800.

GM updated the power on all 6.5's I beleive in 97 and again in 99 or 00.You could search this site for the specifics on this topic as its been discussed a few times. The cooling capacity was also upgraded along with the extra power. Why they never intercooled, nobody knows. Its a definate handicap of this truck,in my eyes.

The H1 engine is the central turbo variation (formely used in GM vans and some more). To conform to 04 emission levels, they changed the induction system to adapt the mandated EGR, and they either reduced restriction in the redesing, or slightly changed the program, producing 10 more HP and lb-ft, and 3 to 5% less fuel consomption.
The mechanically injected turbo engine is still rated at 190HP and 385 lb-ft torque.

GI,
How deep is your wallet, lot of things we can do for more power, some expensive some not as expensive.
Biggest load to date I have pulled an estimated 24K truck & GN trailer, and scale weighed 18,700# truck & trailer load; with my highly modded 6.5, these trucks have more grunt in them, you have to work at it to find it.
