6.5TD gvan TD into a 73-87 truck

I lurk on this forum alot, and never post. I have found a great deal on a 93 gvan 6.5TD and was wondering if anyone has tried to put one of these into a 73-87 truck? will the turbo clear the firewall? by measuring it it looks like it is very close. I have most of the rest of the needed parts around so I was hopeing this would be a viable swap. Thanks for your opinions.

tpi, I think your out of luck on the firewall clearance. The vans' have the room in back and not on the side for the turbo. I'd shop for a 6.5TD from a truck.
The turbo is different, the exhaust manifolds are different, and even the cylinder heads are different, so you can't put the other, (side turbo) on this engine.
Try "The Diesel Depot" an advertiser here on The Diesel Page, they have used and rebuilt 6.2's and 6.5's, at reasonable prices, and the used units are run tested, and carry a warranty. They would also have any other required parts for the swap.
You may also wish to get a donor vehicle for related parts.
