I've been looking at buying a new truck, but I was not sure if I should trade in my truck or sell it privately. Well, after calling some dealerships and geeting quoted an insanely low price I think I will have to sell it privately.

Am I wrong when I think that a truck of this age should be worth more than what the dealership is going to give me.

1997 1500 Z71 4 x 4 140000km. Excellent Condition: Dealerships want to give me between $8000 and $9000 CDN.

check out nadaguides.com,but look under trade-in,seems like they only want to give about 1/2 retail,and with all the electronic crap on these new ones can you blame them ,but then they turn right around clean it up and try to get full price.but then they take a trade-in and say the trans is bad then they have another 1000-2000 in it so their profit drops to next to nothing,i can't say that i blame them but i am to the point i don't deal with them anymore then i have to and i don't even consider trading anymore,just as an example my 94 4x4 sub shows a trade-in of just over 4000,and dealer price of just under 8000,
