How about a blast from the past?

Some of you have mentioned this before, but considering the problems we had with the forum, now's a good time to do it. Please review the table of contents for the eight Feature Articles volumes, and select one 6.5TD related article that you would like to have re-run here in The Diesel Page. Any one article from any of the eight volumes. If you'd like to see it again, I'll make it available.

The following link will take you to the book list. Each link on that page will show you the table of contents for each Feature Articles volume.

http://www.thedieselpage.com/books.htm

Post your choice here in this thread. Once a consensus is reached, I'll upload it to the web site.

Thanks for your patience leading up to and during the BB forum move.

That's mighty generous of you, MP.

I'm with rustypig on this one. Make that 2 votes for the EFI to Mech. article, preferably both parts eventually.

Thanks

From 1999 I would like the two related articles "Oil Pressure Switch & Lift Pump Fix" and "6.5 oil Pressure Switch Replacement"

My vote goes for "Kennedy Diesel
Performance 6.5TD Exhaust Systems" from the 2000 reprints.

Just another thought. There are several articles from different reprints that I would like to see, however since I am only interested in a couple of the articles from each reprint I cannot justify spending the $20 for 1 or 2 articles. Would it be possible to make the idividual article reprints available online at a somewhat prorated cost?

My request would be Lee Swanger's 1997 review of oil filters please.

And thanks for the offer.

My vote is for "Towing with the 6.2/6.5" from the 1999 archives. I bought the 2000 issue and have about worn the covers off it. So much good information and so many toys for us boys to dream about.

We're currently in the early phase of working out the details for a brand new DS4-DB2 conversion article. If this is what I think it might be, it'll be the "end all" for our conversion series.

So, please try to select a "Blast from the Past" 6.5L article soon.... It'll take time to re-edit it, update it and make it presentable. I could have it ready for the October 15th update, but it could take a week or more to do the editing....

I'm in the middle of planning for converting my '98 EFI to Mechanical DB2. I also would like to see the reprints (all though I have the books from '98 to '01) along with the updated materials to go along with the subject.

1999 Articles "Vehicle Speed Sensor Buffer"

Thats my vote, guess Im a loner.. but this topic surfaces quite often on the forum..

At any rate, since your in the process of a new complete EFI to MFI conversion article, The VSSB article sounds good..

Thanks for your help guys....

Here's the list:

Converting EFI-MFI - eight votes
Oil Pressure & Lift pump fix - 2 votes
Alt pulleys - one vote
Kennedy exhaust - one vote
Lee's oil filter comparo - one vote
Towing with the 6.2/6.5 - one vote
Lee's Bypass oil filter - three votes
VSSB - one vote

Because we may be getting a brand new EFI-MFI conversion article, I think we should wait a bit longer. So, the choice then narrows to Lee's Bypass oil filter article or the Oil Pressure Switch & Lift Pump fix.

Any last words?

Jim: Can't wait to see the new FI conversion article...should be a good one.

My next vote would then be for the OPS/relay fix ...a never ending saga on the forums it seems and would help many (even though I've fixed this problem). Thanks again!

Since I have a mechanical IP, I'm really looking forward to the conversion article as it may show us chipless chaps how to get the most from our setups. Since that article is on hold for a bit, I'm really interested in Dr. Lee's bypass oil filter setup. :D
Thanks, Jim

Any progress on the DS4-to-DB2 pump swap article?

4L80-E transmission control has always been the biggest hurdle to overcome when converting an electronic 6.5 to mechanical fuel injection. Previous hybrid throttle pedal conversions eventually evolved to a point of possibility, but even they were not a good enough solution for most people interested in a conversion.

The new product review on the PCS Trans Controller (http://www.thedieselpage.com/reviews/pcstrans.htm) that went online last month is the most recent article we've produced that could cleanly solve the 4L80-E problem. Take a look.

I have an alternate suggestion vs. rerunning an old article. I would like to see at the end of each year, a compilation of the years articles / board posts onto a ISO format file that can be downloaded and burned to cd. That would allow the current years information to be stored and locally searched by each of the boards members.

It would be alot more convenient than trying to copy each article of interest locally at the time it shows up, for future reference.

It would also prevent "losing" any of the valuable threads in the boards -- they are a true wealth of information.

BTW -- I'm a computer geek by trade, I can help in the packaging of information if necessary.
