Hello
Up to now I have been mainly interested in the 6.2 diesel. Have two of them currently licensed here in California (Suburban and 4 door dually). Have an engine swap I am interested in doing and need advise. Just bought a 95 Yukon with 6.5 and 4 speeed automatic. Has a blown engine. I have an almost brand new 6.5 engine and 4 speed automatic from a 95 3/4 ton Suburban. The engine and transmission will obviously bolt right in. The Suburban engine has all the acccessories attached. What do I have to do about the change from "C" to "J" engine. I do have the computer from the 95 Suburban. Also have the wiring harness from the 95 Suburban, but it is damaged and it would probably be better to stay with the Yukon harness if possible. Are the harnesses the same for the 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton models? California has no current inspection program for diesels so running the "J" diesel should be ok. Anyone have experience with this "change" of engines?
Any thoughts appreciated.
