Looking at adding EGT, Tranny and boost guages. I've seen ads for combined units (Edge Products) that allow some performance modding as well as guage combo, but they don't list them for the 6.5.

Is there a similar unit for the 6.5? I know I can get the guage set but I'd be interested in some minor tweaking as well.

Thanks

I have a SPA combination EGT/boost gauge that works great. It contains a microprocessor that gives instant readings. Plus, it enabled mounting in a single gauge pod low on the A-pillar.

I recently got a nice package from Kennedy diesel - just boost and EGT, but what I liked was that for one price you get all the stuff you need, plus JK is quick on the e-mail reply if you need a little hand holding while you install. Nice for those of us (like me) new to TDP, and finding out more about my rig than I ever thought I wanted to know.
And - No - JK didn't pay me to say any of this..... ;)

Kennedy, Heath, and SS Diesel all sell gauges and pods and all are pleasant to deal with. No one sells a tuner like the Edge for the 6.5, you need a chip (for early years) or a reprogrammed computer for later models.

Thanks, Bull

Thanks, Bull That's what I needed to know.

I can get a guage set locally.

Thanks.

So, I've ordered the BD XMonitor just cause I like techy looking things. Also ordered their autoloc as I have a lot of hills here and like to have some engine braking. Local shop deals direct with them and is doing the install. As the guy used to work for BD, he has their recommendation.

Next is to get a bigger exhaust but that will wait until I see how the truck tows. Biggest concern I have is my engine temps increase towing up hills etc. so I may do a cooling upgrade before exhaust. But the guy seems to the the autoloc will help the temps by having the tranny run cooler.

Seems kinda wierd to not have the TCC lock until ~80KMH when I don't tow much over 80KMH.

If your mechanic "used to work for B-D" there is probably good reason for it. If you have any questions about local mechanics in the Fraser Valley e-mail me at rmk800_136@yahoo.ca . I wouldn't want anyone else go through what I did with my 6.5

BD recommended them and he seems to know what he's talking about.

What happened to your 6.5?

Long story on that one. Started with a cracked piston that eventually came up just shy of a lawsuit with a mechanic that claims he knows what he's doing. It took me hundreds of dollars more and a couple of months to repair all of his damage to my vehicle. Glad to hear that your guy is recommended by the guys at B-D. The other guy was obviously just some dead wood that they cleared out.
