View Full Version : bolt sizes
Does anyone know the thread size of the bolt holes in the block for the bellhousing? This would be for a 1997 block.
Thanks

Yep... 3/8x16. Don't try to use M10x1.5 - while the fasteners are nearly identical in diameter and the thread pitch nearly the same, M10's in a 3/8 hole (or vise versa) will have you in a world of hurt. Bell housing fasteners (3/8") should have either 3 (Grade 5) or 6 (Grade 8)tick marks as a headstamp... the metric variety have numbers like 9.8, 10.9, etc as a headstamp.

all but one or two of them have the provision to bolt something to the head side. Ie - a nut screws onto the bolt after the bolt is installed and torqued
