oil cooler lines 1994 6.5TD F engine

Need oil cooler lines which the dealer can not supply, vibration has wore the two metal lines from the motor to the hose connector. Where the leak developed. I am looking for two lines from the motor to the hose connector so I can get some hyrdolic lines fitted. Not interested in buying the complete kit. tmanandme@juno.com

1994 suburban 2500 6.5 diesel - gear driven camshaft, banks exhaust system, duel water thermostats, etg, td boost gauge, fsd cooler.

Which kit were you looking at?

What I'd consider is just replacing the lines, there is a "kit" available from Lubrication Specialist that just includes the steel braded lines and the hardware adaptors to connect to the block and the existing oil cooler. The price is pretty reasonable.

I'm thinking of upgrading mine, as I have the first version of this setup, with clothlike wrapped hydraulic lines, I feel a little safer with the steel braded ones, especially near the exhaust manifold nearest the oil filter.

Think of the kit as cheap insurance, if those lines go, as they have been known to do, several have grenaded their engines in a quick hurry. Something to consider couple of hundred for a kit vs couple of grand and major down time.

The kit also fixes another problem area of GM design, which is spring clip retainers used to secure the oil lines to side of the block, a couple of guys have had those also fail which allows 60 to 0 oil pressure & catostrophic fails at highway speeds.

If you are in a bind, for short term you can use a dremel tool & carefully cut back crimp sleeve at hose to tube joint, where these lines normally leak then use 2 stainless hose clamps to clamp hose to tube at each crimp connection. Then use wire to join the 2 clamps together, that way if either clamp tries to move , the other one keeps that from happening.

RE oil lines. Be very careful what you replace your lines with. I nearly "detonated" my engine when a set of aftermarket lines (original lubspec lines) burned through on a 98 towing a 3 horse trailer at about 65. They worked fine till I put a load on the truck and hauled at speed. I don't know if the "armored" lines will provide enough heat shield to prevent burning through, but I have some doubts. I wound up using factory lines, don't love them, but don't know of a real good replacement that I can trust.
