I have a 1997 K2500 Suburban but the door panel says the month of manufacture was 10/96. Does this vehicle have the dreaded fender snorkel?
I don't want to start taking things apart looking for it if it isn't there. Thanks.

My 98 sub didn't have one. I don't think yours does either.

gmcheek,

My '98 Sub has one. The snorkel opening is directly behind the passenger side headlight assembly. You can barely see the snorkel body from the engine compartment if you look off the outboard front corner of the battery. At that point, the snorkel outlet enters the fender cavity.

Thats not the dreaded shnorkle;

The dreaded shnorkle is a narrow duct within the fender.

Its not the apparatus that directs air into the fender from the turnsignal area... although that piece can be modified for more air with a utility blade.

My early '96 K1500 built November 95 didn't have one.

If it's not a snorkel, what is it called? It's a plastic piece; roundish at the opening and a long, very narrow outlet where it enters the fender well.
