View Full Version : Don't look back...

Well, my trusty '95 needed a bunch of work if I was going to keep it through this coming winter. Since I'm never satisfied when I let others work on my vehicles, and had no time to deal with it myself, I decided to throw money at the problem. I succumbed to 'employee pricing" and got a new '06 Duramax. After a little more than a week with it, I think I can safely say there is no going back, so I have decided to sell my stash of 6.5 stuff. A fairly complete list can be found by clicking here. (http://forum.thedieselpage.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=19;t=000441)

I'll continue to monitor this forum and post as appropriate, but I suspect I have reached the end of my learning curve on the 6.5 and I'm sure that there's no where to go but down from here... ;)

Good Day!

Congratulations on your purchase! You'll be missed here for sure. (I have this vision of making that last statement repeatedly until I make it to the 2nd-to-last 6.5 member... :(

Blessings!

Don't worry Moondoggie, there will always be several of us that will always hold on, even though we know better! tongue.gif I went ahead and purchased a 6.5L, even though I knew the potential problems. In fact, it started stalling on me two days later! But I still love these GM diesels....there's just something about them. I wish now I had purchased a C3500HD for my work truck chassis instead of the Ford. I really don't care for my Power Stroke that much. Oh how I long for a 6.5L under the hood!

Man, I must be really sick!

Hye Ron, you won't be alone with Moon here, I only have 195,000 on the ole water puller and I'm shooting for 300K+ so that should take me another 4-5 years. I have started to kind of look for a second 6.5......(where's the shrink) What I been thinking is I'd like to find a 94-95 K-1500 extended cab short box with a 5 speed. I think I would try and do MPG's mods and see how many MPG's a well set up 6.5 can get. I would not tow much so I think I'd look at setting up gears in either 3.2~ or even 3.08. Some thing I can load bird dogs in a couple of shotguns and see if I can get in the high 20's at 65 mph. (now if was real smart I'd put that money in my retirement accounts) I think I'll start filtering a few bucks off into a money market so when I find "the truck" I'll be ready, the GMC dealer this summer had just the truck with 67K miles but wanted almost $9K and I had a big tax bill looming soooooooo, I let it go by. I consider a Tahoe or Blazer if one could be found but I don't think they made them with manuals. I don't want to lose power to the tranny more than needed. I could have bought the truck plus mods easy with the Taxes I had to shell out
Oh well cost of keeping the Gubernment handing out our bucks.

I'd love to keep my '93 around in addition to the my Dmax. It just isn't financially feasible... It truely is fun to drive and GM diesels are unique in their own way. Don't worry guys, we can't all sell at once can we?

If I jump ship it won't be from the old '84...I'll just be following GMCTD's lead. CUMMINS here I come. But don't worry I have to win the Lotto first!

I still got the best of both worlds :D
Although the 1993 is not ON the road at the present time It is sure looks like it is going to be my hunting truck soon.
BTW I am not rich -- just wouldn't take the chicken feed they offered me for the 93 on trade.
