That scares me running with open intake runners. . . .

A look in the GM service manual from the 6.2 days shows a special tool set.....Screens that fit over the intake ports.....

one of our past members was running a fresh 6.5 with the intake off....A couple romps on the the throttle and a misplaced rag got sucked into an open port....

Destroyed the engine in a few seconds.....

An expensive mistake...

Well I didn't have anything around that could get sucked in and I am aware of the what if's......

Judging from sctrailrider's knowledgeable posts to this and other forums, and his help there to others, I wouldn't worry about him being stupid enough to have something sucked into the engine. Enjoyed the video. Thanks. Just my .02.

That's why when something happens its referred to as an " Ahhhhhh $hit!"
Happens to the best, sooner or later. . . . .

I'm betting it won't happen to sctrailrider.

The simple fact that GM actually made port cover screens tells me that this issue has been explored before.....

The OH CHIT moment only takes a split second and it's downhill from that point.....

Like heading up on the high steel without a safety harness and line....Only takes a second.....

Tempting fate is a place I would rather not go....

A rag, a screw, a small socket or one of many items that can be ingested.....

The rag was the one scenario I was indirectly involved in...Called in to survey the carnage.
Broke the cylinder wall on a fresh block.....
