Anyone tried this yet?

I just finished replacing my front turn/running lights with a mesh like grill to enhance air flow to the air box. No mpg test results, but truck running cooler and does seem to run better. I got a set of amber turn/running from Advance Auto, made a bracket then mounted the bracket below the high beam light, used scotch locks to tap a light. The covers are made from aluminum electronic componet cabinet covers that let out heat of electrical componet cabinets.
In my opinion, it looks great, and it only stands to reason that allowing more air to the air intake behind the passenger's side turn/running light housing will improve performance. I will keep you posted on performance (if any) gains.

The only thing I was concerned about was in the winter with freezing rain(no more signals) or super heavy rainfall gettin in there creating rust. let us know how it goes

Very similar in concept. My fronts are sheet aluminum with small holes. Looks almost like billit. I used spacers to mount the piece flush. The turn signals work great. Won't be home for about 10 days and when I get access to a digital camera I'll get some pic's. Planning a cold air intake to capatalize on the added air flow.

Very 'cool'. Mine would suck too much snow when plowing, but would be great in summer.

What about trying to use LED's as turn signals. Although they make them red for brake lights and very thin. They could be mounted across the mesh top or bottom and still be encased without taking up too much room. Just a matter of getting the right color.... smile.gif

Those are neat! They could be surface mounted, easy. Making my mounting bracket was the most time consuming part of my install. The ones I used from Advance were $6.

The stuff on the website are definately not cheap, but the light bars are small in size, allowing just about all of the space to be used for allowing cooling air to the engine. Plus, you'd never have to worry about light bulb changing. Plus they are bright.

Just figured I'd pass along a bit of info. Now that mod is gong on my list of stuff to do, it's cheap to do, so it'll happen sooner than later.
