What does the original ECM chip look like? I have a blue chip like one on Ebay. Sells says its a performance chip. I'm wondering if the person I bought the truck from replqced the chip(I am the third owner)? :rolleyes:

what you are descrbing sounds like a "chip".

There were many "updates" from the factory, so you may have a newer software version.

Or, like you said, a previous owner added a performance chip.

The only way to know is, pull the ecm out, remove the cover and see what is written on the chip inside.

Most use the OEM blank that says BLUE on the underside. The only way to know what it is, is the label, and even then you can't really be sure...
