I have a complete ATS turbo system for the 82-87 square body pickups
Also fits GMC JIMMY AND BLAZERS from 82-91 as well as Burbs from 82-91
ALSO FITS THE CREW CABS from 82-91

Will fit CUCV too

Good condition.

The turbo, exhaust manifold, air inlet casting that sits on the intake manifold.

Air tubes, hoses, clamps
Downpipe too (not in piccy)

You will need to fashion your own oil drain setup back to the sump. the turbo has a JIC fitting at the outlet.

Turbo spins free and has minimal slack.

This unit used the oem air filter and housing.

Great example of a fine unit from a bygone era.

Banks still offers their unit for $2995

This little jewel should fetch $1000

Hi

Pretty easy really


Remove the RH exhaust manifold and swap in the ATS manifold.
Bolt on the turbo charger
Remove the original cross over pipe
Install the crossover from the kit
With this system you need to install a 3 inch or larger muffler and a single pipe

The turbo downpipe connects to the new large exhaust.

Add a pipe T to the oil pressure switch port at the rear of the engine.
Use one side of the T to connect a stainless braided oil line to one port (Feeds the turbo at the top) and the original OP switch to the other side.

Connect the turbo drain line to either a weld bung in the pan or an adapter at the front RH side of the block by the fuel pump if equipped.

**** There should be a pipe plug down by the fuel lift pump on the block... use this as a turbo drain line port****

Mount the aluminum air plenum to the top of the intake.

Install the two air pipes to the air penum and turbo.


Turn the injector pump fuel screw about 1/4 turn CW

Fuel screw is accessed by removing the top of the IP.

Downloading the instructions from the Banks kit (still available online) will get you spot on.

The turbo and such are soooo similar and the tech instructions are really good

The air filter system is different and a few other items...but the IP setup and such is really all you need.


THE FACTORY air filter housing and filter goes right back on top of the ATS air plenum.

Pretty much a weekend project if you get a plan together and have everything ready to go.

The oil lines are parts house stuff (Oil feed line must be stainless braid type)

Actually the oil return goes in the valve cover. You have to drill a hole and place a grommet in it. Somewhere I have the instructions. If I get a chance I will find them. This Turbo in my opinion is a better set up than the Banks!

The truck this unit came off of had the oil return running to a nicely done bung on the RH side of the Pan

This is a lot of extra work...unless the pan is off for another reason.

Those instructions would be sweet.

This setup is not an ATS Turbo setup.

This is the BAE setup, very similar to the Banks setup except that it plumbs above or the factory air cleaner and uses a T4 turbo vs a T3 turbo.

The BAE turbo is a bit interesting too, never run one but I own the identical setup so I probably should try it.

Took a good look at this turbo set up.

Has a Rotomaster HI-FLOW turbo with A/R 85

The crossover is nearly identical to the Banks system and comes up the Left side of the engine by the pan and then crosses by the front of the pan and then enters the exhaust manifold at the front right, and the down pipe exits the rear of the turbo and sneaks down past the frame above the starter just like the Banks units.


The turbo mounts with the shaft parallel to the engine center line but sits higher on the engine than the Banks unit.

I sent BAE an email and asked ????? but no response yet

I never looked closely at your photos, but it probably does drain in the pan. I've only seen one of those setups and never paid much attention to it.
