I want to convert my L56 to L65 and I have a L65 computer to install. Can someone explain the theft code learn procedure? Do you need a Tech2 to do it?

If you figure out an easy way, lemme know.

Problem is, you have none of the Passlock hardware on your truck.

W-Buchak has transplanted a 1998 steering column to accomplish this.

Simpler yet would be to adopt a 1997 VIN...

John, Let me see if I have you right. You are saying since my truck is a 97 it does not have the Anti Theft system. So if I wanted to change my L56 to L65 all I would need to do is find a L65 PCM from a 97? I know this would not give me the latest and greatest power gains but, it would allow me to get rid of that terrible EGR system.
Please let me know if I have this right.

Scrolling thru some old posts I found this; Lomis if you still need how to do it let me know I'll e mail you how to do it I have a 99 TDC 3/4T L65 PCM in my 98 L56 truck. Takes about 30 minutyes to do it key on key off cycling.

You can do it on a 98 and newer truck as they had the theft protection. It's the 96 and 97 trucks that it won't work in.
