Just bought a new to me 99 6.5 3/4 ton. I am interested in increasing reliabilty and maybe power just a tad, what do you guys suggest?

Personally I would add gauges(egt and boost) and upgrade the exhaust. Possibly a remote mount FSD cooler. Then depending on whether you are doing any towing, an adjustable boost controller and an intercooler.

What enhancements does the 99 blocks have? Do I have the smaller Oil Spray Pistons?

Up grades are unlimited
Start with a whole kit as I did with Bank's power.
JK can also supply a kit that will give you a great start as other's do also.
The moter will be just fine. In all, it will even last longer,Run cooler with more air flow and EX flow.

I would suggest the same mods as Phil Holmen is suggesting.

'99 block is 506 with the smaller oil jet holes and slightly beefier block. smile.gif

adding power to these trucks is like eating popcorn, you cant have just a little :D
as soon as you get the gauges and exhaust, you will feel more power and begin to think you need just a tad more. so you get a chip, now were talking!
Then......"those three items gave me some real power.....hmmm"
Maybe i should get a high flow air filter!
next a boost controller to add boost
ETC
ETC

as i added stuff to my truck, i became very fond of it, i even had the old thing painted!
maintain it, mod it, and enjoy :D

Patrick,

YOU ARE SO RIGHT!!!!

I like my Burban so well I am looking at putting an Avant 18:1 engine in it instead of buying a 2002 or newer Dmax. Just can't beat the room in this thing.

Andy,

check out my write up in the readers rigs section for the mods I suggest. Just be sure to do the gauges first so you don't over cook / pressure anything.

Mike
