View Full Version : Still having brake problems

I just finished a complete rotor and pad replacement and cleaning of the speed sensors; however, I still get an occasional pull to the right and squeal from under the hood. The pull happens when coming to a slow stop. The squeal happens occasionally when coming to a slow stop and under very hard braking. The squeal sounds similar to a hydraulic jack that had reached it extension limit.

Is it possible that a code is being set but no turning on the light? Would reading the codes with a code scanner (non-Tech II) could it help to shed some light on this problem?

Any help would be appreciated.

My apologies for the double post -- I hit post twice on the first one and got a cannot proceed -- no flooding message and I didn't see my post when I came back. Couldn't delete the first one.

Admin., feel free to delete the other post.

It sounds like you might have a bad wheel speed sensor. Mine did this for a while right after I got it. The wheel had rubbed the wire for the speed sensor and caused an open circuit. That set a code. I tried to solder repair and shrink wrap, but evidently it changed the resistance enough that it messed up the signal. The computer would think I had a wheel slipping and fire the ABS (that's the squeel you here from under the hood). This would result in a pull to the opposite side. Replacing the speed sensor corrected the problem.

I noticed in another post about brakes that taking out the ABS fuse is an option. I did this and my brakes work properly, however, I lose my cruise control too. Anyone know if it would hurt anything to put the fuse back and disconnect the front speed sensors until I can get a chance to check their resistances and try to get the bad one fixed?

Thanks.
