When I start my 93 3/4 ton 2 wheel drive 6.5 turbo I get gray smoke. Is that normal and it will start then die and I have to give it a quarter throttle and she starts. Any feedback?
Light colored smoke (not black) usually indicates unburned fuel. Sounds like glow pugs or GP controller. It is common going into colder weather to have starting trouble that didn't exist when it was warm.
How long since you changed GP's?

I just replaced my glow plugs 1 month ago with Kenndy's. This has just started

Hey Jeffery, I've got the same problem, same year model. New glow plugs and lots of smoke at start-up. Also, I can tell that it is missing on 1 or 2 until it gets some heat going. Then the smoke quits.
I have a new GP controller and a glow time extender switch but it doesn't help.
I'm thinking that perhaps the wiring may not be good or I might have gotten a bad plug.
To check, I will use a ohm meter on each plug with the wire off. One wire on the spade and one on the block. If it won't take juice it's dead.
If they all test out ok this way then I will make the truck cycle the plugs and test to see if I have power at each wire.
Hope this helps ya!
Ken
