Could not find a machine shop around here with one. So, now I'm the proud owner of one.

Torque plate, I’m assuming? Who makes it?

Waaaaay cool

I have used these on the BBC we raced in boats, but not on the 6.2/6.5

Definitely get round cylinders with that beast.

Local guy. Found that an old racing friend of mine had bought into a machine shop that specializes in old and obscure. They also do a lot of work for restorations of rare stuff. They have a source that will make them a torque plate for any application. I was just over there and they had a flat-head V8 on the assembly stand - it came out of a racer that set a record at Bonneville back in the 50's and a guy is restoring the car and going to race it again and wanted to keep it 100% original. The work going into the block is insane...all 8 holes needed sleeved, fixing the hacked-up port/relieve job, etc... I should have snapped a few pics. On the ground next to it was a 427 for a 1967 Vette that was undergoing a restoration.

Yes, it will be for rent when I'm done. Shipping is going to be a *&^%$# though. Might be cheaper to ship the block here...lol.

I see them fairly readily available for gasoline engines. That’s the first I’ve seen for a 6.5, though.

The “common” ones seem to start at about $250 to $500 depending on application. If you don’t mind the question, what did that set you back?

I’d be inclined to agree with DvlDog… ;)

More than that...;)

He had to look up all the specs and do all the design work to machine it as they had never done one before.

Ok, I was wondering if it was fully custom or whether you found someone who had them.

First one was custom. Now they can be a production item. If you are interested I can get a price for you.

I'm impressed JeepSJ! I wonder how many 6.2/6.5 rebuilders around the country have/use one of these?
