I just want to double check what the Rod caps and crank mains are torqued at. I have conflicting torque numbers.

2007 Navistar 6.5 T/D

Thanks in advance

Chris

Sorry, my 6.5 service info won't load up on these new fangled 64 bit computers...

Mains ---- inner bolts 111 ft lbs outer's 100 ft lbs (Large bolt) If 10mm outer go to 40 ft lb
Do the torque in at least 2 passes splitting the spec in half the first pass.

Rods ------48 ft lbs Same gig, take them down in stages from snug to full torque.

If you have one that just won't settle happily at 48 lb but keeps creeping, toss it in the trash and install a new bolt.
Stretchy bolts are not a good thing.

1994 GM SERVICE MANUAL

I like to get all the mains checked for clearance and then starting at the center main do each set to 50 pounds all the way going from center to next main forward, then next main back.

Once they are all to 50 then go back though and bring them up to 111.
Do the outer's the same way.

Spreading the torquing out and allowing things to settle in.

After each session spin the crank to be sure there is no bind.

The 96 and later blocks had the 10 mm outer main bolts, so use the 40 lb rate

Good luck
