I bought this truck this week but have worked on it with my buddy many times, who is the previous owner. the issue we have been dealing with is the starter keeps sheering the starter bolts off. had to put a heli coil in the block due to messed up threads. what could be causing this issue? any advice would help im a first time diesel owner and not very knowledgeable with them yet. we have had this happen about 4 or 5 times.
Thanks, cory

Howdy and Welcome!
If you do a search on this subject you will find tons of good info.
Somewhat of chronic problem.
The search button is in the upper right of the forum title line.
One thing to check.... make sure the starter has a front nose bracket. I would expect you don't or it is getting loose.
This small bracket is a MUST HAVE.
If you have sheared off that many bolts, count yourself lucky that you have not broken the block!
Good luck!

FYI....
Best bet is using NEW OEM starter bolts. Aftermarket stuff normally is not nearly as good.
