i know there are several of you well educated in electronics on the forum, i need your help.
i have a gauge that has a "flickering" light. the gauge is Auto Meter "lunar" series, it uses a "phosphorus,,,,back lighted,,,,something? anyway, there is no bulb, only a very small circuit board with an in-line resistor. This resistor measures "open" on my fluke.
The stripes are 1). maroon. 2)lavender 3)maroon, with a tolerance stripe of gold.

what is the resistance value supposed to be?\
thanks
Pat

Odd colors.
RIAA color code is
black = 0
brown = 1
red = 2
orange = 3
yellow = 4
green = 5
blue = 6
violet = 7
gray = 8
white = 9

First two colors are value, 3rd color is number of zeroes to add.
I'd say you have a red violet red, for 2700 ohms at 5%, a standard value.
Orange violet orange = 37000 ohms is not a standard resistor value - closest would be 36000 or 39000 ohms.
