View Full Version : LML sensitive to fuel type?

Some salesman was telling me that the LML engines are sensitive to the type of diesel being run in the newer trucks, with the engine shutting down if it detects kerosine or the old tractor diesel (off road) in the tank. And by shutting down, I'd assume "limp mode" if anything other than ULSD was used.

Anyone hear of this condition?

I've not heard of that condition, but your question raises the question of "why would anyone put anything besides the recommended fuel in a $10K engine?".

Those running in Mexico where ULSD is hard to come by have had issues with the DPF plugging. I have not heard anything stateside, but I suppose if you fuel from an old farm barrel you are going to have issues.

I did some fuel quality research concerning Mexican fuel back when the LML first appeared in production. At that time, most fuel stations, at least on the beaten path, were selling ULSD. A little attention to your fuel buying should make it possible to get by without problems.
