Will codes be stored even after the light goes out ? I sometimes have a low power no boost situation then the boost will come up and away we go

The simple answer is yes, mostly. With transient codes, it varies, but most will remain in history. How long they remain depends on the code and the code class. Some will clear themselves after 2 or 3 successful starts, or warming cycles, without the condition present. Others may remain for as many as 40 warming cycles. It's worth a check, in any case.
