I have a 1998 chevy express with the 6.5 diesel. Occasionally while driving the motor would floor itself for 2-3 minutes then it would miss really bad. If I let it sit for 1/2 hour or so it would then drive fine. It may go 6 weeks before the next episode. Then it would do it again. Now it does it almost everytime.I replaced the fuel solenoid or pmd when I got the van with a remote system from heath diesel so that has already been done. Any other ideas.

Howdy
Wide Open for 2-3 minutes?
What do you do to control it?
If it goes wide open redline, the RPM limiter should kick in.
I think the only thing that it could be is an Injection pump issue...?
Is it throwing any codes?

It could be a few things, including air leaking into the fuel system. Don't rule out the PMD (or extended harness), even if it's relatively fresh. Almost any IP failure that would cause it to become unresponsive should set a DTC, and the SES lamp should be on.

No prize. They did away with those around here.
The only dumb question is the one that goes un asked.
We all have to learn.
