Ac delco 180 thermostat

Well the thermostat came in the mail going to try and install it today

Well I got the new thermostat installed a little black tape and some hi tack gasket sealent sure made the job easier if I ever ketch the dip **** that decide to mount the thermostat housing backwards and vertical I'll kill him with a 3/8 ratchet . It wasn't hard to change after you worked on a few skid loaders or a Massey Ferguson you'll see what miserable is . Anyway the temp now runs at 185 where it use to run 215 degrees just cruising around if I Floor it and hold it for a long time it goes to 215

There was a time when ACDelco didn't offer a 180 degree T-stat. What's the part number? Thanks for posting.

Unfortunately that looks like a conventional style reverse poppet and not a balanced flow (Robertshaw) style. It also appears to be for a 95 and earlier model with the horizontal installation and bypass blocking disc.

I don't know who it is but it was the same diameter as the one that came out and it runs cooler so did I do a bad thing ? 12T45D is the part number

That stat is the new delco part, but it is for the pre 1995 with a vertical stat housing and the spring disc on the bottom. It is also not a high flow or a balanced stat like John mentioned. Don't want to sound negative, just trying to clarify.
Keep us updated as to how it works over time and a hard pull or two.

Mine has a vertical housing it looks exactly like the one that I took out guess we will see if it works or not ? Sure runs cooler i plan on flushing the coolant next I was running 210 215 degrees just cruising around runs 185 now

Well I've ran this thermostat for a few days now crushing 70 mph flat ground temp runs 185 on a hard pull hills 70 mph it will hit 200 degrees just driving around slow 40 45 mph 180 degrees. Have not had a chance to do anymore off roading the last time I did I hit 225 degrees 4hi and pedal mashed to the floor . I think I will get the lower engage fan clutch from Kennedy diesel and the fan and I think I will be good to go for some light towing
