I'm building a 06 Navistar 6.5 t/d and want to install the Double Thermostat Housing, High Flow Water Pump, and the D/Max Fan and Clutch. Does anyone know the part numbers for new parts, or vehicle years that I could pull old parts from? I know there are a few suppliers that sell the kits for an arm and a leg, just trying to save a few bucks.

Thanks in advance

IIRC, it was ’97 and up that had the upgrades.

Yes, it was the 1997 model year. However, the updated system was being installed early in 1996, to include late-build (after January) 1996 models. Another difference to look for is the water pump and fan hub. Early models were bolt-on (like decades-old models), while later were threaded. I don't recall the year of that transition, but threaded fan hubs are still in use today. The two applications are not compatible.

IIRC the 99 got the screw on fan hub.

I have heard of a few people using duramax fans with the 6.5, is this nessesary or will a 99 6.5 fan/water pump application work as good?

Thanks

John Kennedy will have to verify, but I think the 99-2000 steel fan is as good or better than the Duramax composite fan. How many blades? The '99 6.5L water pump is 130 GPM. Earlier pumps were 87 GPM.
