Hey guys new to the 2 stroke detroit world, so any help would be appreciated. I recently aquired a 1977 MCI bus with an 8v71N and an Allison auto. The plan is to use the drive train for a 51' International rat rod project. My question is in relation to the motor being red in color. Any other 8v71's that I have seen have all be Alpine green. The red color makes me wonder about it being a remand. or donnor motor. Anyone have any info on a red detroit diesel? I have no previous information on the bus becides that a church had owned it for the last 25 years with it sitting for the past 15. I was told there had been no serious engine work bring done wile in there posision. Also the motor is NOT mounted side ways. Would this motor be running clockwise or counter clockwise? Would anything have to be changed to run this engine and trans. set up in a conventional style truck? Thanks
