Howdy all,
Posting because I believe a few of you may have motorhomes with similar engines / rebuilds.
I picked up a 1993 33' Safari Motorhome recently for what I consider to be a good deal given that it only had about 69k miles on it. She isn't blowing smoke out of the oil cap. Seems to keep her cool when climbing grades. A little slow to start after sitting for a week but with 3 cycles of the plugs and patience she starts up without almost any smoke.
The engine and chassis are getting checked out tomorrow so I will report back -- but was curious if any others have some suggestions for upgrades or maintenance?
So far, going through receipts the history of the vehicle is as follows:
- New Bigger Radiator July 2015
- 2009 New Starter Durmast DL 8401S
- AMCO Transmission Rebuild 2006
- 2009 Solar Panel Camanna 110 Watt. ASC 12/16 Regulator
- Passed Diesel Test in 2006
- 2006 Hewitt: Thermocouple "K" Grounded, Pyro 2" 250 0-15^F Red IL, Leadwire 35Ft K
- 2006 Bent Thermocoupler, pyrometer gauge, mounting bracket
- 2006 Replaced fuel return lines, tightened two injector lines.
- 2" Trans temp.
- 2008 Lift Pump SSDiesel Supply
- 2006 Heat Shield, Fuel Injector, Fuel Filter, Tubing
- New Engine in 2006 from Windish RV @ 53kmiles.?
I'm considering taking "Harvey" over to Peninsular and it sounds like there are quite a few options. P400 with 18:1. Performance engine with 18:1. Multiple turbo and cooling options. Sounds like a great shop. Any recommendations when it comes to upgrades/engines from Peninsular?
Thanks for your time!
