Battery Blankets

I noticed the batteries in my truck do not have the blankets on like my previous truck. Are these necessary today or not?

I've never used battery blankets and my truck will start reliably at 20 below zero F. It is much easier (and better for the engine) to plug it in when the temps are well below zero...

I think what he is talking about is the foam wrap that was on the OE batteries 2001-2007 classic (the side post battery years)

I don't think that they are necessary either. In some cases I transferred them over when I replaced the batteries. In others I tossed them. I can only guess that they were added to help insulate from high underhood temps?
