Knocking passenger side

So I just bought a 99 k2500, it started and ran, but has a terrible knock on the passenger side. Sounds like a valve hitting the piston. Rough idle and smokey as hell. Got her home pulled intake to see if I can pinpoint which head to pull. Turn key on, nothing. No crank. No wait to start light. High beam indicator stays on, as well as flasher arrows. I can't imagine that having the intake off would have anything to do with what is going on. Any ideas? Thanks

When you pulled the intake were there any ground wires attached to it? If there were ground them and try again.

Two grounds at the rear of the manifold that originate in the main wire harness

There may have been a body ground as well.

Yes, there was a ground there. I will reattach it after the sun comes up. Thanks.
