1995 GMC 3500HD 6.5 Turbo Diesel

I have a 1995 3500HD 6.5 Turbo Diesel. My glow plug indicator light was not coming on so I took a jumper wire from a hot post to one of the glow plugs, which made the indicator light come back on. Now nothing is coming on. I was told there is a solonoid for the glow plugs but need to know where exactly that is located. I left it running for 45 mins @ idol then drove it 1/4 mile and it killed on me while I was driving. I tried to restart it and it would ignite and kill, ignite and kill. Can anyone give me thoughts on what could be the problem?

Trace the wires from the glow plugs back to the relay.

What codes do you have ?

Start stop sounds like PMD.

Have you checked to be sure your getting fuel and in the quantity it should be?

Last fuel filter change? Filter housing tight and sealed, not sucking air

If it fires with the key on start but not run, combined with the glow plugs not coming on, I'd suspect the ignition switch.
