96 6.5 k2500 running to hot??

Hey guys, i was taking my truck for a test run after putting everything back together after a head gasket job. I kept a close eye on the temp gauge and it got up to 230 no higher.. is this normal? should it be running cooler? temp gauge is also aftermarket if that means anything.

230s not bad with a turbo but I'd make sure the water temp gage is hooked up right and if ur really concerned about it start it let it warm up and try a Lazer temp gun it can vary from where u point it I allways try the radiator and thermostat housing and u might even try where ur temp gage go's in to the block if u can reach it good luck
