82' chevy c10 shut off solenoid

I have a 1982 chevy c10 6.2 diesel the wire going into shut off solenoid smokes when key is "on" and no instrument panel lights unplug wire and I have power just had a new shutoff solenoid put on:confused:

Sounds like a short in the shutoff solenoid.
