I have installed a 6.2 / 700R4 into a 97 (gas) Tahoe with a 96 6.5 wiring harness. Will the ESS on the 6.2 generate a signal that the PCM can use in place of the crankshaft position sensor or crank signal from the DS4?
This motor/transmission spent the last 8 years in a 90 k2500 in which I swapped in a 96 k2500/6.5 interior with with the engine and dash harness. I removed the PCM completely with that swap. I found the AC system received it's ground through the PMC and the work around for that was to install a relay.
I thought with this swap I would need the PCM for the air bags and brake systems but they are not tie into the PCM so removing the PMC might be an option.
