testing fuel pump

How would you test the mechanical fuel pump? I have no flow to my primary filter.

IIRC, the 83 has the lift pump between the primary and secondary filter. Meaning, you shouldn't have fuel pressure to the primary. The lift pump draws fuel through it, then pushes to the secondary. Check your fuel line routing.

With your fuel lines and primary filter intact from the tank to the lift pump, cranking the engine should produce 4-8 PSI and good flow.
