Is this just another place where a pipe plug goes?

I thought the machine shop replaced all the pipe plugs but I guess they missed one. Is that what goes here in this hole beside the crankshaft?

Is there a wiring harness plug looking for a crank sensor close by?

I think the crank sensor is in the front in the timing gear cover

yes, thats an oil galley port that should be plugged.
