View Full Version : Mechanical Fuel Pump Outlet - Argh.

I am attempting to replace the fuel pump on my 6.5l-swapped '84 diesel Suburban. The outlet from the pump is completely seized. I have tried everything I have but nothing will budge the bloody compression fitting. An 18" breaker on a 5/8" crow's foot just spread the crow's foot and slightly, barely, rounded one corner of the fitting. I've tried every penetrant I have and literally lifted myself off the ground trying to move it. I've hammered on a flare wrench to try and shock the thing into moving... nothing is working.

Is anyone aware of a super-sturdy wrench that might get this to move? Any other suggestions? Has anyone tried the OTC locking flare wrenches?

Failing successful removal, I can cut the hard line and "patch" it back together with rubber. I assume there is no issue doing that since it connects to the filter in the same way.

I'm stunned here - the motor mounts came out with hand tools and *this* is what's holding me up!
