Rain the past two days is about to freeze. How much weight in sand should I put in the bed?

300-400 over each rear wheel should suffice.

Along with the existing weight you should be fine

Awesome. Thanks! Just got back from home depot... Bring on the ice!

Those packs of "tube sand" are great.

Just toss them in over the wheels and your set.

That's what I got! Loaded them myself too, much to the surprise of the employee at Home Depot (I'm a tiny gal).

Although most people put them right over the axle I'm more of an up against the tail gate sort of guy.

Problem is: too much weight on the front and not enough on the back

Second class lever....

I guess the engineer is showing....

Either way up against the tail gate puts more weight on the rear tires that even right over the axle. with a dually more is better...

This makes perfect sense. You can do more with less. The front end doesn't need help.

Good point. The front end has the mass of the sun, and the back, a mind of its own on slick roads without weight.
