Looks like I have an AMG block to play with…
I can turn it over, but I want to open things up to see what the internals look like.

With all the stories of cracked blocks and such, I wanted a backup plan. Found this - military surplus - for the right price to take a chance on it.
Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet
Just give it the same inspection in the center main areas that you would any 6.5 block.
Not that you will find anything bad, it's just that I am nervous about any six and a half stuff.
When you rehab that beast, be sure to clean up all the stress risers in the basement.
AS in lightly chamfer all the main bolt holes and break all sharp edges with a new fine file to remove the source of cracks starting.
I spent an hour "dehorning" my AMG block prior to the final washout.
I even lightly chamfered the oil passage holes in the main saddles.
Good luck

Definitely going to tear it down and read up on all the “tips and tricks” to put it together properly.
I think I did a blow by blow account on my AMG block.
It's really a no brainer.
An hour or two of putzing around deburing and chamfering and your set.
