I have 97 1500 with a automatic(480)electronic. When it shifts from gear to gear it "bangs" into the next gear. I have no error codes appearing. This just started happening with no warning? Does any have an idea as to whay it could be?

A posible bad epc sol?
" bangs" or hard shifts.
Hard shifts can be a limp mode being set ( causes high pressure) Get a " scan " of the PCM.

thanks for the current repsonses, but I have some qustions regarding them.
1) What is the EPC solenoid?
2) Not knowing what the PCM full function, how does it play a role in producing high transmission pressures?
Check the speed sensors in the transmission and transfer case. They can have junk buildup on the tips of them and when that happens the ECM does not know how to shift the transmission. The transfer case speed sensor in mine was dirty and cleaning it stopped the bang shifting.
