I am searching high and low for a starter for my 1993 AM General Hummer with a 6.2 l diesel. Mine went out and I can't find a refurb unit.

I had bought a new starter and the solenoid hits the exhaust manifold so it can't be mounted. The issue is where the solenoid is clocked. My original starter solenoid is clocked different so it can be mounted.

Any one have any leads on a starter?

Thanks

Me thinks the large one is a direct drive unit, the smaller one is a gear reduction unit, they both use different braces at the front also. I'm not sure is a shop can re clock the new one or not. Also I think there is a difference between a auto & manual tranny starters in the nose cone.. they might have given ya the wrong one...

The starter on the hummer is different and has the solenoid located differently.

The is one on Ebay

Looks like the one here

Humm, this one is a 24 volt and civilian AMG Hummer's are 12 volt systems.

Almost under my nose but not quite. Thank you
